The Shamrocks Philosophy

Our primary goal is player development in a positive and competitive environment.  Through our emphasis on team chemistry, we maximize individual talent and team success. We believe in the value of competition, sportsmanship, and responsibility.

Players are expected to be committed to the team, and attend all practices.  In order to be successful we must have a cohesive team unit. Players who do not attend practices will fall behind with the various schemes and make it difficult for coaches to have their team 'on the same page'.  We understand that unavoidable conflicts arise including injuries and illnesses; these instances must be communicated directly to the Head Coach.

Shamrocks Coaches Expectations

Shamrocks coaches are very passionate about the game.  They are students of the game.  Shamrocks Coaches are a dedicated coaching staff of effective communicators and educators.  We demand excellence, and we focus on all of the 'little things'.  All coaches are screened and trained to instruct players according to our program's curriculum.  All coaches have a program based curriculum that is followed and goals for each team per season.   Lacrosse credentials are a given, our coaches are selected based on their ability to be positive role models in our players’ development.

Each team will have two to three coaches.  We select a Head Coach for each team with Assistants that balance out the coaching staff.  Our coaches do not rotate during the season.  We believe coaches and players will form a stronger bond throughout the summer with this type on continuity.

Shamrocks Playing Time

Shamrocks teams compete to win, but not at the expense of the player development of each team member.  Our objective is to put every player in a position to find success.  This philosophy is dependent on the player's commitment to practice and balanced with certain game situations.   This means that players who are NOT committed to attending regular practices or games may not be given the same privileges of those that do.
Players may be asked to fill certain roles. In some cases, this will be a leadership position.  In others, it will be more of a specialty role, such as Fogo or defensive middie.  We expect our players to enthusiastically accept the roles our coaches communicate for them to fill as this is their responsibility as a strong teammate.

If playing time in one game is unequal, our coaches will make every attempt to balance out playing time throughout the course of a tournament or event.  Our goal is to provide equal playing time for all players who are 100% committed to the program.

Shamrocks Apprentice Program

Shamrocks Apprentice is a sub program that gives players the opportunity to practice with the team yet only attend tournaments in the event a full-time player experiences a family-related conflict or injury.  Our goal is to develop the Apprentice’s to the same level as the regular team members and prepare them for future team tryouts.  We aim to maximize game opportunities for players, so limit the attending slots, with priority to those exclusively selected during club tryouts.  On the rare occasion, we may move a full time player to apprentice status should his development warrant it.

However, coinciding with our mission to educate eager players, we offer this opportunity for those are still very talented, yet willing to accept a lesser commitment while benefiting from our coach's instruction.  The program also provides the Shamrocks with depth and flexibility, bettering the practice, game and competitive environments.  If interested in becoming a Shamrocks Apprentice, please e-mail Bill Keane at sjshamrocks@comcast.net

Shamrocks Travel Team Refund Policy

When a player registers for the Shamrocks Lacrosse Club he (his guardian) is responsible for all fees associated with accepting that position.  All fees are expected in a timely manner as outlined at time of registration.  All fees are considered non-refundable.  However, we do realize that at times there are extenuating circumstances that might prohibit the player from participating in Shamrocks Lacrosse Club after accepting the spot.  If this is the case, the Shamrocks Lacrosse Club administration will review the situation and determine if an exception can be made to refund a portion of the registration fee.  This will only be the case in exceptional situations and is not a guarantee of reimbursement of non-refundable fees paid at the time of registration
